What you’ll accomplish: Connect your CoachIQ website to Google Search Console, submit your sitemap, and get Google to index your site so it appears in search results.

Why this matters

Google doesn’t automatically know your website exists. Google Search Console is the free tool that tells Google about your site, submits your pages for indexing, and lets you monitor how your site performs in search results. Without this setup, your CoachIQ website may not appear when potential clients search for coaching services in your area.
Time required: 10-15 minutes for setup. After that, Google decides when to crawl and list your pages. It’s often days to a few weeks, but there’s no guaranteed timeline.

Before you begin

You’ll need:
  • A published CoachIQ website
  • A Google account (Gmail works perfectly)
  • Access to your domain settings (if using a custom domain)

Connect Google Search Console

1

Go to Google Search Console

Open search.google.com/search-console and click Start now.Sign in with the Google account you want to manage your website analytics with.
2

Add your website

You’ll see two property types. Pick the one that matches how you’ll verify in the next step:
  • Domain (left side): covers every version of your address. Enter your domain without https:// or www, for example yourcoachingname.com. You’ll verify with a DNS record.
  • URL prefix (right side): covers one exact address. Open your website in a browser and copy the address it lands on, for example https://www.yourcoachingname.com. You’ll verify with Google Analytics.
Not sure? Choose Domain. It works whether your site loads with or without www.
3

Verify you own the site

Google needs to confirm you own this website.DNS record (Domain property):
  1. Copy the TXT record Google shows you
  2. Sign in to the company where you bought your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace and so on) and add it as a new TXT record in your DNS settings
  3. Back in Search Console, click Verify. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect, so try again later if it doesn’t work right away
Google Analytics (URL prefix property):
  1. Make sure your Google Analytics ID is saved in Website Builder → Settings → Scripts & Analytics and your site is published. See Google Analytics
  2. Sign in to Search Console with a Google account that has Editor access to that Analytics property
  3. Choose the Google Analytics method and click Verify
The HTML tag method isn’t available for CoachIQ websites. The builder doesn’t have a place to add a tag to your site’s <head>, which is where Google looks for it. Use DNS or Google Analytics instead.
Once verified, you’ll see a confirmation message and be taken to your Search Console dashboard.
4

Submit your sitemap

CoachIQ automatically generates a sitemap for your website. You just need to tell Google where it is.In the left sidebar of Search Console, click Indexing → Sitemaps. In the “Add a new sitemap” field, enter your sitemap address. On a URL prefix property you only need to type sitemap.xml. On a Domain property, enter the full address, for example:
Click Submit.
Your full sitemap URL is your website address + /sitemap.xml. CoachIQ keeps it updated automatically whenever you publish changes. Pages you’ve hidden in the Sitemap Builder aren’t included.
5

Confirm the submission

Refresh the page and check under “Submitted sitemaps”. You should see:
  • Success — Google accepted your sitemap
  • Pending — Google is still processing (normal)
If you see errors, open the sitemap address in your browser to check it loads.
Google crawls and lists pages on its own schedule, so new pages can take days or weeks to appear. That’s normal. Don’t resubmit your sitemap repeatedly.

Check your indexing status

After a few days, come back to Search Console to confirm Google is indexing your pages. Pages report (left sidebar → Indexing → Pages):
  • See how many pages Google has indexed
  • Identify pages that aren’t indexed and why
  • Confirm your most important pages are showing up
URL Inspection tool (top search bar in Search Console):
  • Paste any page URL from your site to check its index status
  • Request indexing for individual pages if they haven’t been picked up yet
  • See when Google last crawled the page
If an important page still isn’t indexed after a couple of weeks, use the URL Inspection tool to request indexing for that page. Requesting indexing doesn’t guarantee it.

Troubleshooting

DNS method: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours. Wait and retry. Double-check the TXT record was added with your domain provider exactly as Google showed it.Google Analytics method: Check that your Google Analytics ID is saved in Scripts & Analytics, your site is published, and you’re signed in to Search Console with an account that has Editor access to that Analytics property. The URL prefix must match the address your site actually loads at, including www.HTML tag method: Not available for CoachIQ websites. Use DNS or Google Analytics. If neither works, contact CoachIQ support with a screenshot of the error.
  1. Verify your CoachIQ website is published (not in draft mode)
  2. Check that your domain is properly connected and active
  3. Open the sitemap address in your browser to confirm it loads. On a Domain property, enter the full sitemap URL
  4. If you recently connected a custom domain, wait 24 hours for DNS to propagate
  • Confirm your sitemap status shows Success
  • Check that your site has published content (not just a coming soon page)
  • Use the URL Inspection tool to manually request indexing on your homepage
  • Share your website URL on social media or other sites — external links help Google discover your site faster
There’s no fixed timeline. Google decides when to crawl and list your pages, often within days to a few weeks for a new site. Ranking well for competitive searches usually takes months.Use the Pages report and the URL Inspection tool to see where things stand, and keep publishing helpful, local content.
No. CoachIQ automatically updates your sitemap whenever you make changes. Google re-checks it on its own.If you’ve made major changes and want them indexed faster, use the URL Inspection tool to request re-crawling on specific pages.
Domain: Tracks every version of your address (www, non-www, http, https) in one property. Verified with a DNS record at your domain provider.URL prefix: Tracks one exact address, such as https://www.yoursite.com. On a CoachIQ website, verify it with Google Analytics. If you can get into your domain provider, Domain is the simpler long-term choice.
